Firewood is made available exclusively to owners at the firewood yard off Kiko Road in Lake Taupō Forest.
Short logs are provided at the yards, and require chain-sawing and splitting.
To ensure access remains exclusive to owners, forest access permits are required to cut and take firewood. Permits must be shown on request.
When cutting firewood with a chainsaw, the appropriate safety equipment must be used – safety helmet, hearing and eye protection, safety footwear, safety trousers and chainsaw mitt and chain break.
